Beards/Facial Hair This page was last updated 28-Dec-2007. I will have facial hair until I die. I thought it would be appropriate to have a description of my philosophy on facial hair. I did not fetishize facial hair the way I did body hair when I first came out of the closet, but realizing more about the bear "type" and hating to shave, I immediately grew in a beard (which I didn't realize many men can't do). In the summer of 2001 I shaved down to a goatee but since then I never shave my cheeks the entire way. Instead, I just shave my scalp to the same very short length as the non-goatee area of my beard. I keep my goatee longer because I like the two-tone effect. Since I've pretty much only dated men who have facial and and who are into the same (now realizing that it's a factor in cruising and a sign of masculinity, which I extol), I resent the fact that men who are older than me shave their faces in a futile attempt to look younger. Yes, it "shaves" off a couple of years when one takes out the gray or shaves the face, but youth is not that attractive to me when I am looking for a man to be as hairy and masculine as possible. Accordingly, I think older men are attractive ONLY when they allow themselves to have facial hair and be more masculine. Younger men are always more attractive to me if they have facial hair and body hair, but at least if they ARE youthful they are not trying to hide something by shaving. |
