LiveJournal Sucks

25-Mar-04 -- I'm all for people spilling their guts on Livejournal.com and I encourage it, but I have a bone to pick not so much with the site, on which I briefly started posting references to my blogs on my own web page, but with some of the people's intensity on there.  Some folks have sent me the excruciating details of their break-ups as documented on there, with pictures, full names and baggage galore (can we say Zsa Zsa)?  The saddest result, however, was when the man who SUGGESTED I read his livejournal and get an ID of my own on there stopped speaking to me because he took everything I wrote (or perhaps THIS blog) to be about him specifically, which was absolutely not my intent.  I wonder how many raw feelings have been hurt due to the nature of the beast.  While I loathe censorship, there is something to be said for discretion in what to publish.  I may be "brutally" honest, but I am not going to go out of my way to rake someone over the coals for the slightest transgression.  Yes, I have some "secret" pages on my web site where I vent about things or hide comments that are not suitable for a family-audience, but even then no one is forcing anyone to read what I write.

I've loved having my own domain and self-publication freedom for years now.  While sites like Livejournal give you forums on which to find people with similar interests and lots of enlightenment, I'm going to stick with my own fully-controlled environment for the foreseeable future so that I can be accountable for everything I say, even if I do open up some forums for discussion on here eventually.
