Carroll O'Connor

This man should be remembered for the sweet genius he was.  He played the part of the most ignorant, racist man but deep down he was giving us a message, with the help of the wonderful creators of All in the Family.  I remember being nervous when he was on TV walking around in his white undershirt in his program with all the yelling.  I guess it reminded me of a sometimes high-strung home life of my own.  My father used to love the show but I did not understand why until many years later when I knew the history and the message that it was trying to give.  Little did I also know what an altruistic person Carroll was in real life and a sensitive man, a singer, and a loving father and husband.  When I heard of his passing I just had to construct a page in his memory and to let the world know and perhaps those who loved him that his collective message was not lost on my father's generation nor mine.
