Minnie Riperton (Deceased) -- Minnie began singing in a group when she was 15. She could have been a superstar. She succumbed to breast cancer in the 1970s at the age of 31. She was diagnosed at 26. Until the likes of Mariah Carey and Shanice Wilson perhaps, she had an incomparable five plus octave vocal range. Incredible. Good songwriter too, especially when teamed with her husband.
