In Memoriam
Update March 2005: Sadly I found out that Renee Diggs passed away a few days ago probably from complications from Multiple Sclerosis. It is a sad loss at way too young an age. I will add more details when I get them. Here is one link from someone who advised me of this unfortunate passing: http://www.hypeenterprises.com/reneediggs.htm My guestbook entry on that site: I scoured the internet for information about Renee when I first got online years ago. When I created a list of my favorite singers on this site, I had to include her prominently. I have always maintained that she was underrated. Only the keenest of us seemed to realize the power and beauty of the voice that emanated from this striking woman. I am shocked and saddened to hear of her passing. Very few singers can accomplish what she did with her voice. She brought me joy with the passion in which she used her craft. Fortunately we will have her voice to listen to in perpetuity. Update July 2003: Oasis is a great solo album by Renee but it is hard to find. I managed to order a copy from England through some web site. I don't know if the accent on Renee's first name makes it harder to find her, but I did eventually. Update July 2001: Someone who saw this page was nice enough to advise me that there is an official Starpoint web page at www.starpointmusic.com. It's worth checking out. In July, 2000, two new pictures were sent to me of Renee, which show how truly stunning she is. What a beautiful package for such an amazing voice! Check them out: The band is from Annapolis, MD. Every one of their albums is great. The melodies and lyrics are meaningful so the whole band contributes a lot. What shines the most for me, though, as an appreciator of female vocalists, is Renee Diggs. I have been able to find very little about Renee online, except at www.hypemagazine.com, which did an article on her. I have offered to do an official web page for her and am waiting to hear back. Too much about Starpoint "software" is distracting my searches on the Internet. Renee had released a solo album, but I can't even get a picture of what it looks like anywhere. As you can see, she is also a striking woman. I know the entire band is talented, but just like with Miami Sound Machine, in this case, a certain female lead singer shined through. On April 17, 2000 I got an email telling me that Renee did a gospel track on the new Jeff Majors' Sacred 2000 album. She is also currently in the studios recording her first solo album with Ernesto Phillips. I can't wait to hear it! If she has HALF the energy she had in the Starpoint albums, we're in for a real treat! |
