1996 Appearance as Guest on Newstalk In 1996 I was asked to come to a Time Warner talk show in New York City called Newstalk hosted by Lisa (Sliwa) Evers. to talk about the Bottoms case, where a biological grandmother sought (and won) custody of her grandchild based on the argument that her daughter (the mother of the child) was in a lesbian relationship. The grandmother herself was living with her own boyfriend "in sin" and actually stopped cohabitating with her boyfriend in order to take custody from her own daughter. I was going through my own custody battle at the time and also coming out (so I didn't discuss the details of my case), and I was abhorred at this case that was happening in Virginia. Obviously, I felt safer being in New York, and ultimately my ex-wife and I settled, giving me primary custody of my daughter.
