Staten Island Ferry
The fish were from a tank that we were forced to look at while we waited for a return ferry to Manhattan. I shouldn’t complain since it’s a free way to get pretty close to the Statue of Liberty, but the tourists are definitely lied to when they are told to walk a certain way toward a return ferry and they make sure it leaves before anyone else can get on, having them spend twenty minutes perusing the shops on the Staten Island side.
Ground Zero
Washington Heights
We stayed with good friends in Washington Heights. Included in these pictures are Fort Tryon Park and some of the food from the area. I missed strawberry butter so much! Why can’t they sell this stuff in stores or at least have it in the West Coast restaurants? Also included in the pictures is the George Washington Bridge (the “GWB”) from our friend’s panoramic living room window.
Times Square
My cane certainly didn’t keep anyone from running into me, but a lot of fun still.
Washington Square Park
Spring came very late this year in New York. There were hardly any blooms and the trees were still bare. There were even brisk days to come during the days we were there in late April. Still, it was wonderful to be near my old stomping grounds.
