August 2006 Vacation

I brought Josh to Italy. We stopped in a few cities before meeting family in Calabria to meet up with my daughter, who spent six weeks there.

My Kindergarten Photo

I’m estimating September 1973 this was taken.  I went to Hillview Crest, in Hayward, California, for kindergarten.  Fortunately my parents had started teaching me English, because even though I was born in San Pedro, California, I started talking when we were living in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy (my mother was from Calabria).

My Parents’ Courtship

Just prior to their wedding my parents were chaperoned by my grandfather, Giuseppe Benenati.  My parents had met when my father was stationed in Calabria right there on the beach in front of the station.  They corresponded for a few years and send audio tapes back and forth to each (one of which I’ve digitized).  They spent some time getting to know each other in Florence, close to where my mother attended college and took these pictures.
