It’s great when two dogs love each other. We rested in bed after Shea and I had a night swim at our friends’ house nearby. With the October heat, it’s nice to have friends with a heated pool, although pretty rare and unexpected to have a warm night in which to go into the water, especially at this time of year. Who are we to complain, though? It was a nice way to catch up, hang out, and relax after a long day. It’s hard to tell, but Bonnie is literally resting her head on Snoopy’s body and he is happy to be near her too. My leg was in there somewhere as we cuddle-piled and waited for Shea.
I think this video proves Bonnie’s quality of life after her eyes were removed.
This was my first time there too. It was neat to finally see the Golden Gate from this angle, even though it was mostly hidden by fog. Shea knew just where to park.
Chocolate chihuahua mix Moe was fostered for a few days and 15-year-old Bentley was back for another dogsitting episode. Snoopy and I joined them in the backyard while Bonnie stubbornly stayed inside.
The only “view” we saw of the Golden Gate from the Marin Headlands was from the car as you’ll see from the back seat, but the park has some other cool features like the old fort/tunnels, etc.
As a board member of the local humane society I encourage everyone to ADOPT, not SHOP for pets. Every rescued pet is another one that breeders and puppy mills will not profit from. Mixed breeds are inherently healthier and make wonderful family members. Although HSNB is a no-kill shelter, many animals are still neglected and face euthanasia due to the lack of forever homes.
We all understand the laws of supply and demand. Let’s save as many animal lives as possible because these pets cannot speak for themselves. This is why I have been volunteering in this field for years. I typically foster and facilitate the adoption of designer dogs that come my way, allowing me to adopt senior and special needs dogs permanently. These decisions have brought me family members and love that fulfill my life.
There were some cool drones and kites (visible above our heads in some of these pictures) and we took a nice walk along the Napa River with the darks. We loved some of the food options and both appreciated the “Ube Area” booth.
Not sure what the squirrel wants from the Spanish Moss but nesting material, but this one seems determined, yet there’s a whole area full of Spanish Moss that he’s completely ignoring.
Snoopy followed by foster Moe checks out the taunting squirrel yet along, but the squirrel doesn’t give a fuck.
The contractor suggested I periodically stop by and work on my garden which was great advice. Rather than feeling sorry for myself for not getting home sooner, it’s nice to stop by the house and make some concrete changes that will help my garden to be ready for me incrementally. Shea helped me water the plants while I cleaned up a lot of the materials and did some serious pruning to be able to see some of the garden features and release the windmill from the newly grown bamboo and other overgrown plants. Snoopy and Bonnie were happy to chill out while we worked back there. I found it very therapeutic.
