Wellfleet Siding Progress

More progress on my house, at least from the outside perspective. Almost all of the back-facing siding is up, which only leaves one more side to go! It will look like a complete house from the outside, so then I need some basics like bathrooms, kitchen cabinetry, and floors put in. Hopefully Cankles McTaco Tits won’t fuck up supply chains, tariffs, and labor supplies anymore for me. The recent rains have been good for the garden, including the yellowing bamboo, which is now greener. The neighbor’s trees are growing into my inner side yard, so I’ll have to contend with that soon before they bring down the fence.

Foster Marshall Begins Adventure

I love my fosters, including Marshall, who was selected with three other dogs from the Humane Society of the North Bay to be transported to Oregon. They are going to be rehomed by Waggin’ Trails Rescue. He’s a young, healthy boy and has been through a lot with some back and forth to the shelter, but he deserves a permanent home and will make some family very happy for many years to come. It was hard to drop him off this morning, but it makes room for another homeless dog to be accepted in our foster system who might not be as adoptable. I will be watching to see what happens to Marshall, Mabelle, Betsy, and Bandit!

Mid-October Wellfleet Updates

Since the roof went up, another major step has begun. The actual SIDING of the house has started to go up. The whole house will be painted to match the siding that survived the fire, of course, but this was one of the major steps I was waiting for. I still feel like there is so much damn work to be done and I don’t think I’ll be in before the holidays, which has made me extremely upset. It’s not so much that there’s anything sacrosanct about the holidays to me, but I know that moment will come to a crawl at that time of year, so I wanted it the fuck over with. Days like today, despite the progress, are really melancholy for me and I can’t believe I’m still stuck in this situation like a pawn. This project should NEVER have taken two years, and January 18 will be the two-year mark since the worst day of my life.

We thought the floors were being installed, but it looks like some of the pieces of the subflooring were just being replaced. What’s staged in the garage might be flooring or more siding. It’s hard to tell.

Nearby Electric Tower Work

Apparently some wiring was going on in the area of the rental house. I didn’t use any filters, but for some reason, one of these images came out with this orange sky. It’s NOT the reality of orange skies we have had some years from wildfires, thankfully, but rather some lighting anomaly that happens once in a while.

October 2025 Dogs

At the shelter I saw a quivering senior whose microchip says she is well over 12 years old in a crate. She was very sweet and will likely get transferred to Muttville, so I offered to take her home and give her a quieter place to rest until such time as she will hopefully be accepted there. Lana’s former guardians either didn’t want her or something happened to them. I was SHOCKED at how similar she looks to our foster Marshall. I literally would not be surprised if she is his grandmother or great-great-great-grandmother, possibly.

This is what happens when Shea doesn’t wake up on time. The troops run in to wake him up when they get the zoomies after I feed them.

20251010 Glen Cove Waterfront Park

I love the picture, which appears like Bonnie is looking out at the water. She’s, of course, smelling it and enjoying the light breeze. She’s so amazing off-leash. She just follows my voice and takes her time wandering around and enjoying sniffing.

Video progression of dogs readied for a walk and then the walk in nearby Glen Cove Waterfront, which is one of my favorite parts of the region, and just steps away from my home. I’m going to miss foster dog Marshall, who is among these three foster dogs and our own Snoopy and Bonnie. Marshall’s going on an adventure to be permanently adopted in the Northwest on Tuesday, thanks to a new rescue partner we encountered at HSNB!
