Foster Jacques and Shea
I’m very pleased that Shea tolerates so many foster dogs coming through because he does help me with them. Jacques has turned out to be another one of those dogs that are just magnetized to him, which is nice to see. Foster Jacques has a really wonderful personality and has been fitting in very well. I know he’ll make a family so happy. It’s a great thing that he’s handsome, healthy, and a relatively young adult, neutered male. I can tell he’s smart and minds very well, getting along with other dogs and adjusting so quickly to a home life, despite the chaos of our living in boxes for another ten days or so.

Dogs and Us February 2026
Saffron February 2026
I’m having a baby girl! She was a little chilly, so I had to think fast. I love that I snapped the shot as she was kissing me too.
Saffon, previously known as Edna, is back from her second surgery on her mouth, which wasn’t just for teeth. She also had yet another foxtail stuck in her and had to have her cheek resutured.
Foster Perry Finds Family to Love Him On Valentines Day
Today was bittersweet because our beloved foster Perry got adopted! The good news is that he’s with a friend of a friend (thanks, Paula!), and we are happy to plan future doggie playdates. I also offer to dog sit for those who adopt our fosters. Perry is a wonderful catch, being a very well-behaved, housetrained, and not yappy medium-sized dog with wonderful red hair, an expressive face, very healthy, neutered, and loves everyone. He only barks at doorbells, as is expected. I know he’s going to be well-loved in Berkeley by a family of four humans and a cat in the ADU. I’m so glad I woke Shea up from a nap in late October and told him, “We’re driving to Modesto to save some dogs,” after I got an email about Perry and Ella. That’s what I get for opening up emails of that nature.
Rowing and Dog Sculptures
On Facebook marketplace I found two fabulous sculptures from a woman in Clayton. I had never been to Clayton and didn’t realize how gorgeous that area was at the foot of Mount Diablo. I had to stop the car and take pictures.
In any event, she had two pieces that were really calling out to me on two subjects that I love so much – dogs and rowing, so when I had a chance to pop by after running errands in the East Bay, I was glad they were still available for me to swing by and pick up on my way back to Vallejo.

January 2026 Dogs
It’s nice to see these sometimes rivaling foster dogs play with each other when they get the zoomies in the morning. They have sibling rivalries, which are pretty much harmless, but those pre-breakfast behaviors are always benign. I so enjoy watching them all move around like this.
Grooming Esher
This is when Esher first arrived yesterday after his bath and before his grooming.
Groom guest Esher has the zoomies after his bath and grooming and plays with foster Perry at Shea’s feet.
